“Our Mum [Pat Murrell] died on Christmas Day [2013], after a short stay in Hospital, just a year after our Dad, Noel Murrell, died. We were lucky having our parents live to 99 and 87.
We lived in 'Kalmar', next door to High House. Mum was in the Land Army and was sent to High House Farm, Barling, where she met Dad. They married in 1944, having the bungalow 'Kalmar' built next to High House Farm.
Many of our school friends from Barling will remember the birthday parties Mum gave us and all sitting on the garden swing for a photo. I think 10 of us sat on it one year. (I have the photo but it is in Spain.)
I found this picture of Janet Murrell, Me, Christine and Cynthia Whitten and Julie Murrell.”
